Schneider Electric And EDPR Sunseap Join Forces To Drive Solar Energy Advancements And Sustainability Goals In Singapore
Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, and Singapore’s leading clean energy solutions provider, EDPR Sunseap signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost access to cleaner, affordable and more reliable solar energy in Singapore.
Under the solar energy-centered partnership, both will identify and collaborate on initiatives that leverage on both companies’ industry leading expertise and innovation in sustainability and decarbonisation, as well as Schneider Electric’s expertise in microgrid controller solutions and EDPR Sunseap’s proven capabilities in developing, deploying, operating and maintaining renewable energy generation systems. Schneider Electric will also be EDPR Sunseap’s key technological partner for microgrid solutions for its portfolio of solar energy projects.
Schneider Electric’s Cluster President for Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, Yoon Young Kim said, “We are excited to extend our collaboration with EDPR Sunseap under this MOU, which will move us forward in realising our shared vision of an energy world that is decarbonised, digitised, and decentralised. Our combined technology and industry expertise will unlock new opportunities to accelerate the energy transition and contribute to Singapore’s net-zero goals. At the same time, provide businesses and Singaporeans with greater access to affordable and clean (solar) energy and build a more sustainable future for all.”
EDPR Sunseap’s Executive Vice President for Client Solutions & Asset Operations (APAC), Filipa Ricciardi, said, “Schneider Electric has been a long-time and valued partner of EDPR Sunseap. This MOU with Schneider Electric further strengthens our partnership and commitment to be a global leader in the energy transition, working with like-minded partners. Our business is guided by our philosophy and belief in solar energy (clean energy), innovation and sustainability – these values are exemplified through our MOU with Schneider Electric. We look forward to realising EDPR Sunseap’s mission of Changing Tomorrow Now.”
The MOU builds on the successful partnership between the two companies on EDPR Sunseap’s ongoing project to modernise the energy grid on Pulau Ubin island, as part of goals to power up to 90 per cent of the offshore island through solar energy by 2023. Schneider Electric is providing the microgrid controller solution to improve efficiency and reliability of the system.
Microgrids are self-containing electrical networks which integrate on-site energy sources such as solar, allowing hosts to generate electricity on-site and use it as and when needed, independent of the status of the estate’s utility grid. Organisations of all kinds are turning towards microgrids and distributed energy resources for financial and sustainability benefits.
