Tungaloy Expands HP Geometry Line of T-CBN Inserts

Tungaloy is expanding its -HP geometry line of T-CBN inserts to ensure effective chip control in finish turning of hardened steel parts. The -Tungaloy Expands HP Geometry Line of T-CBN Inserts provides reliable chip control in finish cutting conditions at cutting depths of 0.2 mm (.0079″) or smaller, minimising part quality damages caused by poor chip control.

Around 22 additional -HP geometry T-CBN inserts are now available, which further increases the chipbreaker application range in hard turning.

The new chip former ensures good chip breakage and smooth chip control. The free cutting geometry eliminates bar deflection and vibration during machining, and the built-in wiper ensures better surface quality and chip control.

A total of 22 inserts, available in BXM10 for continuous cut and BXA20 for interrupted cut, are to be added.

Tungaloy Enables Efficient Heavy-Duty Roughing of Difficult Materials

Tungaloy is expanding its TurnTen-Feed series to include a new insert grade, AH8015, for efficient medium-to-heavy turning of heat-resistant alloys and stainless steel.

Tungaloy TurnTen-Feed incorporates a cost-effective double-sided insert with 10 cutting edges, which is securely clamped on the holder with a Dovetail interlock to ensure high insert reliability and stability during demanding medium-to-heavy turning operations. The dedicated -MNW geometry is designed to provide smooth chip flow when fed at a rate as high as 2 mm per rev (.078 ipr) without sacrificing surface integrity thanks to the built-in wiper flat.

Tungaloy Two types of holders are available extending its application options: the HD (High Depth-of-cut) holder for greater depths-of-cut of up to 7 mm and HF (High Feed) holder which enables high feed turning of up to 2 mm per rev. These two types of holders can accommodate either type of insert.

The Tungaloy AH8015 grade consists of a nano-structured multilayer PVD coating with high aluminium content. Its exceptional wear and fracture resistance contributes to process security during machining of heat-resistant alloys and stainless steel as well as significantly boosts productivity in heavy-duty roughing of difficult materials and large components.

Tungaloy ReamMeister Enables High-precision, High-speed Reaming

Tungaloy has launched ReamMeister, a high precision, interchangeable head reamer system capable of reaming holes in an H7 diameter tolerance range.

The ReamMeister tools meet the requirements of high accuracy reaming because the head geometry’s diameter and runout accuracy is strictly controlled when being finished by precise grinding and the taper-and-face contact connection guarantees high concentricity within very close limits.

The reamer is easy-to-operate, thanks to a unique connection screw that allows the head to be quickly replaced with a simple rotation of the head with a dedicated key. The head can be indexed and replaced while still mounted in the machine or arbour with virtually zero setup time.

Two styles of reamer heads are available: the versatile AS style head is suited for reaming various hole types and materials; while the BL style features left-handed flutes that push chips forward immediately after formation, making it ideal for through hole reaming. Both reaming heads are PVD coated allowing reaming applications at high speeds with prolonged tool life, which was not possible with traditional brazed or non-coated solid counterparts.

ReamMeister brings great economic benefits to customers while also boosting productivity and extending tool life with virtually zero tool setup time.

Tungaloy Introduces Full Profile Threading Inserts With Four Cutting Edges

Tungaloy is expanding its TetraMini-Cut, an indexable thread turning tool series with four edged insert, to include full profile threading inserts for machining external threads in ISO metric thread standards.

The TetraMini-Cut insert comes in a compact profile with four economical cutting edges. Its unique insert clamping ensures high repeatability, accuracy, and tool life predictability. The new full profile threading insert can be mounted on the existing standard TetraMini-Cut toolholder for 60° V-profile or grooving inserts. Since the insert cuts a complete thread profile including the crest, no deburring of the thread profile is need. In addition, the optimised tool design provides minimal interference when turning towards the tailstock of the lathe. Inserts are offered in two grades: SH725 allows free cutting of fine pitch threads in small diameter bores and AH725 for universal threading applications on Swiss type as well as general lathes. The enhanced lineup of TetraMini-Cut series provides customers with increased productivity.

Tungaloy Expands Copy Milling Cutter Diameter Lineup

Tungaloy is expanding its DoTwistBall line of copy milling cutters to include additional diameters of shell mills.

The DoTwistBall copy milling cutter is designed to ensure maximum machining reliability during complex 3D milling processes. The insert is constructed in a helically twisted structure that fits the seat constructed in a matching helical profile. This design provides secure insert positioning and fixation with anti-twist protection during machining. In addition, the strong, thick design of the insert helps to withstand machining impact preventing insert fracture.

The cutter body can accommodate either round LNMX-MJ inserts with 4mm, 5mm, or 6mm nose radius or LNMX-HJ inserts for high feed milling, making the cutter extremely effective for machining complex curved surfaces typical in die and mould industries.

The new cutter diameters include ø42mm, ø52mm, and ø63mm in popular shell mill bodies to accommodate the LNMX04 inserts. A total of three cutter bodies are added in this expansion.

Tungaloy Collet Chuck Sleeve Strengthens ID Turning Capability For Small Diameters

Tungaloy introduces a new line of collet chuck sleeves for the TinyMini-Turn miniature boring tool system, enabling a quick changeover of its solid carbide boring bars. The TinyMini-Turn boring tool system consists of solid carbide boring bars and sleeves, designed for high precision internal boring, grooving, and threading applications in extremely small diameters as small as 0.6mm.

Tungaloy’s new sleeve features an integrated collect chuck for precision clamping and repeatability as well as quick changeover of boring bars while the sleeve remains mounted in the tool post. A boring bar can easily be changed by operating the clamping cap equipped on the sleeve. In addition, the collet chuck provides full contact gripping on the boring bar shank for higher stability and repeatability over conventional bolt-clamp holders. The Tungaloy Collet Chuck Sleeve Strengthens ID Turning Capability For Small Diameters sleeve is capable of through-coolant supply for improved chip evacuation and tool life.

Tungaloy Latest TetraForce-Cut Chipbreaker Provides Efficiency in Difficult Grooving

Tungaloy has expanded its TetraForce-Cut indexable grooving tool series to include the new TCL27 style chipbreaker. Tungaloy Latest TetraForce-Cut Chipbreaker indexable insert boasts cost-effective, four cutting edges with a grooving depth of up to 6.4mm. The toolholder has a unique insert clamping structure which ensures high repeatability and accuracy for maximum insert stability and tool life.

Ideal for carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, as well as heat-resistant alloy, the new TCL27 style chipbreaker features a deep dimple profile on the rake face, providing low cutting force and effective chip control during difficult grooving operations. The geometry is available in a universal AH725 grade which improves machining efficiency and stability.

Combined with existing TCS27 and TCM27 style Tungaloy chipbreakers, the comprehensive offering of TetraForce-Cut grooving inserts will meet a wide range of grooving needs in general lathes and Swiss machines.

Tungaloy Enhances Steel Turning Inserts Portfolio With New Grades And Geometries

Tungaloy Enhances Steel Turning Inserts Portfolio With New Grades And Geometries is expanding its T9200 CVD grade insert series to include T9205 and T9235 grades as well as the -TSF and -TM style chipbreakers to conquer steel turning markets.

Both Tungaloy T9205 and T9235 are designed to provide outstanding wear resistance in the P05 and P35 application ranges surpassing existing CVD grades. These capabilities are possible due to Tungaloy’s latest and most innovative coating technologies, including extremely wear resistant Al2O3 coating in a thick and uniformly aligned layer; ultra-hard ceramics for the outermost layer; and PremiumTec—Tungaloy’s exclusive post surface treatment technology.

Tungaloy  T9205 and T9235 provide long and stable tool life in various steel turning applications, allowing customers to achieve high productivity. Combined with the -TSF and -TM style chipbreakers, the latest line of the T9200 series can now meet the needs in a wider spectrum of steel turning applications. This expansion complements the preceding T9215 and T9225 grades of the T9200 series addressing customers’ needs for high efficiency and high productivity machining. A total of 531 inserts are added in this expansion.

Tungaloy Adds Grooving And Parting Toolholders To Expand Coverage

Tungaloy is expanding its DuoJust-Cut, TetraMini-Cut, and TetraForce-Cut lines of indexable grooving and parting tools to enhance their flexibility and application ranges. The DuoJust-Cut, TetraMini-Cut, and TetraForce-Cut are successful lines of grooving and parting tool series that feature an innovative insert clamping interface for secure mounting during challenging operations.

DuoJust-Cut will now offer a 25mm square shank holder to allow customers in the general lathe market to utilise its full benefits. In addition, new holders for TetraMini-Cut and TetraForce-Cut are available in 20mm and 25mm square shanks will be offered with Tungaloy’s high pressure internal coolant capability to improve chip removal and tool life predictability.

A 12mm square shank holder of TetraForce-Cut, designed to be compatible with Tungaloy’s DirectTung-Jet system, will also be released. This system enables interference-free tooling on designated Swiss machine models by channelling internal coolant directly from the tool post through the tool holder, with no need for an external coolant sub-assembly.

These new products will help customers seeking improved productivity and process security in various grooving and parting operations.

Tungaloy’s -01 Geometry For High Precision Finish Turning On Swiss Lathes

Tungaloy enhances its ISO positive turning inserts in “-01” geometry to include a 0.4 mm (.0157″) nose radius prepared in a minus tolerance specifically for precision finishing in Swiss turning applications.

The new -01 geometry is designed to deliver consistent chip control at extremely light cutting depths of 0.5 mm (.020″) or smaller. The introduction of a 0.4 mm nose radius insert is implemented due to the increased demands in the Swiss turning market where workpieces with 0.4 mm corner radius requirements are as popular as workpieces with 0.2 mm radii. In addition, these corner radii are often required to be finished equal to or smaller than the required radius dimensions in order to minimise the impact on dimensional accuracy. Therefore, the insert nose radii of the -01 geometry are all designed and constructed in a minus tolerance to the nominal nose radii, and not exceeding it.

Combined with the existing -JS geometry, the first-choice for small part turning, the enhanced lineup of the -01 geometry provides customers with optimal chipbreaker options for various cutting depths and feed rates in Swiss turning operations.

The -01 geometry is optimised for cutting depths of 0.5 mm (.020″) or less, while -JS geometries are effective for depths of cut ranging from 0.5 mm to 3.0 mm (.020″ to .118″).
