The Untapped Benefits Of Material Analyzers

Dawn Brooks, Managing Director at Hitachi High-Tech Analytical Science details the advantages of material analyzers.

We’re seeing a rise in the use of material analyzers as part of factory automation, from raw material testing, in-line testing to Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT). This has been accelerated as the issue of aging global population and reduced workforce; especially as manpower becomes a challenge for many businesses.

What many fail to realize is material analyzers are developed to provide a solution to customers’ demands for more efficient, automated, cleaner production and development processes. The information is often stored on the instruments without providing wider visibility of the analysis data, which can highlight issues involving raw materials, product quality or processes.

Today, many material analyzers come with readily enabled-connectivity. Unfortunately, many are not taking advantage of the features available to increase yield let alone realize what the future could look like. Automation has been in industrial manufacturing for years. However, intervention is now required for products to meet specification, quality and throughput.
